| It is easy to read and understand, and Scott gives one step by step procedures
to use and understand The Bridge, Camera Raw, Resizing and Cropping and
of course Color Correction. He also covers retouching, special effects,
panoramas, sharpening, etc. Even a beginner can follow his instruction. |

| It comes with an accompanying DVD, this is one to consider. But I find it no where as near instructive as his (much more costly) Total Training course on DVD. Perhaps it's just me, but I don't find books to be a good method of learning software. Too detached and ultimately boring, despite my being an avid nonfiction book reader. | ||

| How
to use Photoshop CS by Daniel Giordan |
Visually and in Full Color” is very useful, simple and clear with good, easy to follow photo illustrations. Good for beginners as well as advanced amateurs.
| Inside

Very basic, core concepts. Like the Photoshop Bible. Good for new users, covers everything well.
| Adobe
Photoshop 7.0 Classroom in a Book, Adobe Photoshop CS Classroom in a Book by Adobe Creative Team |
The standard book of step by step tutorials from Adobe. Used for many college courses. Adobe says each lesson should take 1/2 hour. They took me about an hour each the first time I did them and 1/2 hour the second time.
| The
Photoshop Book for Digital Photographers, The Adobe Photoshop CS Book for Digital Photographers by Scott Kelly |
These books have short lessons on each topic which I find fairly easy to follow. For example, he has a lesson on curves. I followed it exactly two or three times and now I really do understand it. I would recommend the book -- especially to people who are fairly new to photoshop. |

World Adobe |
The best all-purpose Photoshop book I have found. Well written and comprehensive. It is not the easiest book, for that check out PeachPit Press's Visual Quick Start series. This book will take you further. It is co-written by an expert on color management, so the color workflow section of this book it very strong. |
|
| Photoshop
7 Bible, Photoshop CS Bible by Deke McClelland |
A good reference book on Photoshop. Not as well written as Real World Photoshop. Too much focus on hot-keys and avoiding menus. A good companion book for Real World Photoshop.
Adobe
Photoshop 7.0 Studio Techniques |
A hands-on book by one of Adobe's best Photoshop teacher. For intermediate-advanced users. This book explains the "whys" very clearly. A sophisticated reference book for all questions. Excellent color examples, CD included
Photoshop
Channel Chops
|
The ultimate Photoshop technical book for those of us who do not do pre-press. This book focuses on the RGB color space and teaches you how to use it to it's fullest. A thin but dense book you will probably read over and over. Recommended for intermediate to advanced Photoshop users. |

Professional

| Photoshop
Restoration & Retouching, Second Edition by Katrin Eismann |
Designed for people who want to learn to do extensive photo restoring and retouching. Especially useful for working with old, torn, faded, incorrectly exposed images. Also to correct many digital photo problems. Not for beginners -- many of her techniques involve adjustment layers, blend modes, channel replacement, layer masks, etc. Images can be downloaded from her website. Book website: http://www.digitalretouch.org |

Real
World Camera Raw with Adobe Photoshop CS Industrial-Strength Production
Techniques |
Despite its long name, this is a relatively slim volume that focuses
in depth on a topic that has not been well covered. It is an excellent book
for the intermediate and advanced photographer who is planning to use or
is already shooting camera raw images. The first half of the book focuses
on describing what a raw image is and how to use the Adobe Raw plug-in to
obtain the best image possible from your “digital negative.”
The second half of the book describes how to use Camera Raw with the File
Browser to efficiently manage your image processing workflow. |

| The
Art of Photoshop by Daniel Giordan |
A beautiful book… for advanced Photoshop users with clear
color diagrams of extensive tool uses, such as masks, color correction and
special effects. The book is aesthetically inspiring… a reminder of
what Photoshop is all about to begin with – the art of light. |
|
| Photoshop Studio with Bert Monroy | Photo realistic illustration using Photoshop. Definitely for advanced users. These lessons are conceptual, rather than tutorial. If you want to learn how to create works of art from a scratch in Photoshop, this book is fascinating. Mr. Monroy's artwork in this book is amazing. |
