Auction Night

Our May General Meeting will be an NYPC auction.

This is a good deal for all and helps us raise money for life's little necessities like telephone lines, high speed web access, web site hosting, class room computers, projectors, networking supplies, printing and mailing our monthly calendar, renting space for our General Meetings, and the monthly rent on our SIG and class room space in the New Yorker Hotel. Even though we are a Not-For-Profit group there are many, many ongoing expenses every month.

Many other items with fuller descriptions will be added to the web page. Some older software and hardware will be shown at on a flea market table in the lobby.

A variety of services will be offered. This is an inexpensive way to get to know a computer professional who may well become a valuable future resource for you, your company, or your digitally challenged friends. In addition many of our members will be offering their talents and services in other fields, vocations or special interests for you to bid upon. As always, some people will
walk away with big smiles and real bargains.

Vendors or individuals who contribute professional services will receive a free business card sized ad or a thank you notice in our calendar and on our web site for three months. Services
Work out the time and place directly with your consultant. The NYPC offices are available for meetings by arrangement. In most cases this will be two hours of time and the minimum bid for all services is $50.00. The normal rate for consultants varies from $40.00 per hour to $175.00 per hour. These are all people we believe to be competent and responsible, but please note NYPC can not be responsible for outside consultants.

Fred Kahn: - 2 hours of eBay training. Fred is a graduate of Ebay University and an active seller with a great reputation. He is also a great teacher.

Fred Kahn will help you upgrade or build a computer. This is a two day class. Day one is for planning and ordering parts. Day two will be building or upgrading the computer. Note the cost of parts is not included. Opening bid $100.
Michael Horowitz will consult with the winning bidder on designing a backup strategy.
Either meeting in person or on the phone, he'll review backup needs and situation and
offer suggestions for hardware and software. Maximum meeting time of 2 hours can be
split into two sessions (same person) if desired--eg., discussion of plans one day/follow-
up another day.

If you choose digital images, you will get a contact sheet and a high resolution CD. With the CD you can order prints and enlargements from any photo lab. If you choose traditional film, you pay for the film and the processing. You get the negatives. You may order a set of prints, a CD and a digital index print.
Annika Ginsberg is offering a two hour class in knitting. If you knit already, learn advanced stiches and techniques, if you are a begginer learn one on one.
Rob Dublin is offering two hours of "one on one" Photoshop training. You pick the topics.
Mike Ostrowe is offering two hours of PC consulting. Tune your PC, remove viruses, solve problems, preventative maintenance. Mike is a network pro and teaches NYPCs 20 week A Plus certification course. Mikes normal rate is $65 / hour.
