If you have a collection of photos outside of My Documents - My Pictures,
you can either move them into My Documents - My PIctures
or use Picasa's Folder Manager to leave them where they are
and also bring them into your Picasa library.

The Folder Manager enables Picasa to index and manage folders
outside of My Documents - My Pictures.

Some people have existing folders they want to include in Picasa
and some people like creating their own multi-level folder structures.

If you do not have existing folders in other locations
and you do not feel the need to have an elaborate folder organization
there is no need to use Picasa's Folder Manager.

Select Add Folder to Picasa from the File menu
or
Select Folder Manager from the Tools menu

The folders on the left show your hard drive.

A plus next to the name of the folder emans that there are sub-folders beanneth it
hat are not currently being displayed.

When you click ont he plus sign it changed to a minus sign and the sub-folders appear inented in from the main folder.

They in turn will show pluses to indicate that they contain sub-folders.

When you lcik the minus sign the sub-folders will be hiddent again.

A green check mark next to a folder name means check this folder when I clock the OK button, and include any photos I find there in my Picasa library. Do not check this folder after this one time.

A red X next to a folder name means do check this folder for new or changed photos.

A eyeball next to a folder name means it is a Watch Folder:

• Picasa will check this folder when you click OK add any photos to your Picasa library
• Picasa will check this folder from now on when you start Picasa and add new files to your file library
• Wwhile Picasa is running it will monitor this folder for files begin added, removed or changed by Windows or other programs.

To change the option for a folder:

• Highlight the folder you want to change
• Click on the option you want
• Note that the symbol next to the folder name wil change to the symbol you select.
• If you select the eye the folder will show up on this list of Watched Folders on the lower left of the window.
