Introduction to Digital Photography Using Picasa

Picasa Media Detector

Picasa may setup a program called Picasa Media Detector
to automatically run when your computer starts up.

This program is only used to download photos.

For most people this is an infrequent occurrence.

If Picasa Media Detector appears on your task bar
whenever you start your computer
I recommend you disable it.

It is unnecessary advertising that constantly uses your machine's resources.

In most cases you do not need Picasa Media Detector to run at all,
as soon as Windows detects the camera or memory card
it will offer to "Copy Pictures and View Them Using Picasa".

This starts Picasa and puts you in the right screen automatically.

If this does not happen on your machine, just start Picasa
before plugging in your camera or card reader.
