Introduction to Digital Photography Using Picasa

Using Albums to Make Collages

Picasa create photo collage button.
When the album is selected press the Create Photo Collage button.

All the photos in the album will be added to the collage by default. You can remove any you do not want, resize and rotate any image, create a background color or image and use various other effects.

Right click on any picture to bring up options just for that photo.

When you are happy with your collage, press the Create Collage button. This will create a new section of the Picasa Library called Projects. Projects will contain a section called Collages which will contain your collage. If you create additional collages they will appears in the Collage section n8umder Projects.

This drop down list lets you set the size and format of your collage.

Both screen and print sizes are available.

Reset Puts the collage back to the way it was when you opened it.
Close

Gives you the option to save or discard your changes.

If you save it the collage is put in the Collage section of Projects. You can re-open it and make changes at any time. Just double click it to load it and press the Edit Collage button.

Desktop Background Sets the collage to be the background wallpaper on the machine you are working on.
Create Collage

Saves your collage with any changes you might have made.

The collage is saved in the Collage section of Projects. You can re-open it and make changes at any time. Just double click it to load it and press the Edit Collage button.

   

When you hover your mouse over and image in the collage. Tools will appear that allow you to resize of rotate the photo.

You can also click and drag any photo to move it to another location.

   

If you want to make a picture be on top of or below another picture, right click on the picture you want to move and select Bring to Top or Move to Bottom.

Scramble Collage Keep the pictures the same size but move them around to different locations.
Shuffle Collage Keep the slots and locations the same but put different photos in different slots.
View and Edit Lets you edit individual photos.
   

Click on the collage format list to see other available formats.

You can make anything from mosaics to contact sheets.

Go Back and
Edit Your Collage

  • Select the Projects section of the Library
  • Then go to the Collages double click on the collage you want to change.
  • This will open up the collage. Then press the Edit Collage button.

 

 

You will be brought back in the collage edit window described above. Make your changes and save them.
