Color Management

Real World Color Management

The definitive book on the subject. It explains how the eye sees color and the implications for printing.

A great book and a must read if you are serious about color management.

DataColor
Spyder for Monitor
$175 - $275

DataColor sells hardware/software packages that let you calibrate and profile your monitor.

They also sell printer profiling hardware/software and packages that include both products.

I highly recommend their monitor product. The software is simple to use and their tech support people actually help you.

You don't need to read Real World Color Management, but it helps you understand the process and fine tune it better.

Huey
$70 - $125

The simples and least expensive monitor profiling and calibration product.

The profiles will not be quite as good as those with the DataColor.

You don't need to read Real World Color Management.

X-write
$175 and up

X-write recently purchased GretagMacbeth.

GretagMacbeth has made professional color management products for the traditional photo and digital photo enthusiasts and professionals.

They have consumer level monitor profile and calibration hardware/software bundle.

It is more complex than the Huey or DataColor's products. Reading Real World Color Management is recommended.
